Nov. 3: Special Screening of 'Climate Refugees'

The University and School of Global Environmental Sustainability will host a test screening of 'Climate Refugees,' a documentary examining the plight people displaced by climate change, on Nov. 15 in the Lory Student Center Theatre.

Nov. 2: Update on Maxwell Ranch

Despite best efforts on both sides, the Colorado State University Research Foundation (CSURF) could not reach agreement with Wind Holding Inc. on a path forward for development of the Maxwell Ranch wind farm. Given the expiration of the Oct. 31 deadline to cure the problems in the lease, the foundation has found Wind Holding officially in default of its lease.

Nov. 2: CSU launches master's specialization in conservation leadership

Conservation Leadership Through Learning, or CLTL, is a 17-month Conservation Leadership Specialization within the Master's of Science Degree Program in the Human Dimensions of Natural Resources Department.

Oct. 30: University receives $1.2 million from USDA to further critical water resource research

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has awarded CSU two grants totaling $1.2 million to aid in research addressing critical water resource issues — the only university in Colorado to receive part of the $11 million distributed by the USDA's National Institute of Food and Agriculture.

Oct. 30: Professor contributes to United Nations report on climate change

Julia Klein, assistant professor in the Warner College of Natural Resources' Department of Forest, Rangeland and Watershed Stewardship, was the only American academic to help author a report for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

Oct. 30: SoGES announces three new resident fellowship awards and two new research groups

The new fellows will receive support from SoGES to further their studies in global environmental sustainability and the new research working groups will join SoGES in its mission to develop collaborative research environments that cross many different departments at CSU.

Oct. 28: Warner College of Natural Resources student honored for ecosystem work by National Park Service

Katie Driver, a CSU student from the Warner College of Natural Resources, was honored with the 2009 Rocky Mountains Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit Student Achievement Award for her work in creating a protocol for monitoring wetlands in Rocky Mountain National Park.

Oct. 28: Colorado State's Warner College of Natural Resources awarded project funding from the Environmental Protection Agency

CSU received more than $550,000 to fund three research projects through the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The funds will support projects in wetland assessment, watershed mitigation, and critical wetlands and riparian areas.

Sept. 15: CSU reduces greenhouse gas emissions by 3 percent in Fiscal Year 2009

Cooler weather and measures designed to reduce energy use across campus helped Colorado State University cut its greenhouse gas emissions by about 3 percent in the past year, according to a new survey by the Department of Facilities Management.

June 5: CSU receives recycling commendation from Colorado House of Representatives

The State of Colorado House of Representatives extended its commendations to Colorado State University for its exemplary performance in the RecycleMania competition.
