Toxicology and Environmental and Occupational Health

Center for Environmental Medicine and Toxicology
A program of the Department of Environmental and Radiological Health Sciences led by Dr. Bill Hanneman and Thom Hadley, the Center for Environmental Medicine and Toxicology's goal is to train scientists to be stewards of the environment with a focus on food toxicology/safety/traceability and development of new technology to facilitate international collaboration in testing foods for such things as pesticides and heavy metals.
Environmental Toxins
CSU faculty are conducting research funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to examine pesticide use in developing countries and workplace health and safety issues, including practices that reduce exposure to harmful elements in the environment.
The Mountain and Plains Education and Research Center
One of 17 Education and Research Centers funded by the Centers for Disease Control/National Institute for Occupational Safety & Health, the Mountain and Plains Education and Research Center serves the occupational health education needs of Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota and South Dakota. Five institutions — University of Colorado Denver, Colorado State University, National Jewish Medical and Research Center, Denver Health and Hospital Authority, and the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center—have come together to provide graduate training, continuing education and outreach in the seven-state region in the area of occupational and environmental health and safety. As a Center within the Colorado School of Public Health Initiative, the Mountain and Plains Education and Research Center shares an established track record of commitment to training, research and continuing education.
