The Sustainable Event Planning Program is a collaboration between CSU EventCon, a university-wide group for event planners, and the President’s Sustainability Comission. EventCon has over 100 members who represent each college, division, and major office at the university. In 2024, EventCon expressed interest in receiving professional development around sustainable event planning and in partnership with PSC, a peer education program was developed so that EventCon members could become certified in sustainable event planning by attending a series of four peer offered trainings and engaging with one experential experience. Certified Sustainable Event Planners then bring that knowledge back to their home department to engage with their peers to implement sustainable events across the university and for conferences, meetings, and study abroad experiences off campus. The four trainings, which are offered by subject matter experts across the university, include Sustainable Event Planning 101, Sustainable Transportation, Sustainable Menu Planning, and Zero Waste Events. The experential experience is a choice between a campus sustainability tour or joining the Zero Waste Team to help coordinate an event.

CSU Green Ram Network (GRN)
What is CSU GRN?
CSU GRN is the CSU Green Ram Network, a peer-to-peer (P2P) outreach and engagement effort designed to advance sustainability understanding and practices at CSU.
P2P educators are recruited, trained, and supported by CSU sustainability experts to prepare and deliver sustainability education to their peers within their college, unit, department, office, or group.
What do P2P educators do?
CSU GRN peer educators receive 2-6 hours of training per year and offer 2-12 hours of sustainability education, outreach, and support to their peers within their college, unit, or department per year. Hours of training and P2P engagement can vary by participant, but in general they dedicate the equivalent of 1-hour/month to CSU GRN.
